Call for Volunteers for the Gippsland Sculpture Exhibition
The Gippsland Sculpture Exhibition is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help bring the 2025 event to life. Running daily from March 9 to April 20 between 10am and 4pm in Yinnar, this year’s exhibition promises to be the biggest and most exciting yet, and your support can make it even better.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have a strong network of local residents, community groups, and supporters,” said Nicole Allen, Committee Chair. “However, we need more hands on deck to ensure the smooth operation of this seven-week event.”

The event currently has 40 volunteers, including members from the local Lions Club, but additional help is needed. Volunteer roles are varied, flexible, and easy to step into, with plenty of guidance and support provided. From greeting visitors to guiding them through the exhibits and assisting with workshops, there are numerous ways to get involved.
Volunteer Roles
Our main need is for Gallery Operation Volunteers, who help run the exhibition during opening hours from 10 am to 4 pm daily. This is a fun and interesting role that involves meeting and greeting visitors and ensuring they have an enjoyable experience. You do not need prior knowledge of art—just a willingness to work with the public. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting visitors with directions to sculpture locations outside the gallery.
- Handing out catalogues and People’s Choice Awards voting slips.
- Selling raffle tickets.
- Monitoring gallery exhibits and ensuring their safety.
- Facilitating sculpture purchases.
- Maintaining the gallery and amenities in good condition.
- Identifying and addressing any health and safety issues.
- Responding to emergencies if needed.
- Answering visitor enquiries.
Additional roles may also be available for those interested in supporting other aspects of the exhibition. “Being a volunteer is a fun and rewarding experience,” said Ms. Allen. “It’s a chance to connect with the community, support the arts, and be part of something truly special.”
The opening of the exhibition will take place at 1pm to 4 pm on March 9.
There will be free workshops in sculpture and live music on Sundays. The exhibition will be open each day during that period and volunteers will be on hand to answer any enquiries and to show people about.
Food and drinks will be available at the outlets in Yinnar, at the Yinnar Bakery, Cafe 3869 and the hotel.
A wide selections of exhibits will be on display for you to enjoy and marvel at.
The Gippsland Sculpture Exhibition is a much-loved event that showcases the talents of artists from across Gippsland and beyond. With over 12,000 visitors expected, the exhibition offers an incredible platform for volunteers to contribute to the region’s vibrant cultural landscape.
