Mathison Park - May 2022
A big thank you to the Council for two loads of top soil and several loads of mulch which will be used well in the park.
Another big thank you to the Men’s Shed of Churchill and the Men’s Shed of Traralgon for making some new table/seat combinations for us at cost price. We are very grateful for their contributions to the park as will be our community who will use them.
The April Working Bee was a great success despite several usual volunteers being unable to attend due to other commitments. Cutting down the burnt trees produced some very black volunteers. One tree has been left in the hope it will survive as replacements are very scarce to obtain.
Small willows growing around the large house dam were cut and poisoned. More fallen limbs and other rubbish were cleaned up. Further fencing material was removed.
Our regular Gippsland Interchange crew have helped us to move a pile of fallen branches to a safe place and busily spread mulch dropped by Council and Tubby’s Timber and Tree Services.
We have been fortunate to be able to have a walk through the park with the new Environmental Officer for Council, Ruth and her team member Carla to give us some advice re some areas of need. We thank them for their time.
