Lapidary Club Gem Show in Churchill.

The Lapidary Club was formed in 1963 by a group of people with an interest in gemstones, rocks, minerals and fossils. The term lapidary describes the process of cutting, shaping and polishing of rocks, minerals and gemstones, also the cleaning and identifying of fossils. The members fossick for, and collect, samples on their travels throughout Australia, and on their monthly field trips organised by the club.

They also participate in gem shows held by other clubs both locally and interstate.

The Morwell Club has a meeting room and workshop where members can make use of the club machinery. Some use the gems to make jewellery. The annual fee allows this involvement.

Meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month. The club is a great way to make friends, learn about the rocks, minerals and gemstones and have a friendly social time together.
