Gaskin Park upgrades set to benefit Churchill sporting community

Latrobe City Council has commenced essential upgrades to Gaskin Park, Churchill. Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Councillor Darren Howe, said that Council is thrilled about the many exciting benefits the Churchill community will experience from these upgrades.

Upgrades to Gaskin Park – Oval Two will allow football clubs to enjoy more time on their home ground, connecting the sporting community within Churchill. Improved sports facilities will attract more visitors to Churchill and Latrobe City and increase women’s participation in local sporting events. Wet weather conditions will affect games and training sessions less, allowing significantly more usage of the facilities year round.

Council is also thrilled to have secured funding from the State Government, via Sport and Recreation Victoria, for 100 lux LED competition sports lighting to be installed on the oval. Upgrades to lighting will increase playing hours at night and promote safety for people using the Gaskin Park facilities.

Initial earthworks at Gaskin Park – Oval Two are now complete and drainage and irrigation works are underway. Construction of the turf wicket will commence following this stage. Delivery of the Gaskin Park – Oval Two project is set to be complete in early 2025.
