Lions Family Fishing Day 2022

It is getting close, it is time to start checking your fishing gear for the Lions Club of Churchill Community Fishing & Fun Day which is nearly here. Put Saturday December 10 on your calendar and come to Lake Hyland, Mathison Park for the Churchill Community Fishing & Fun Day. It is a day for the whole community to come along to bring their children, grab a rod and wet the line for a day of fishing together as a family, along with others in the community and have fun and enjoy the activities on the day.

All children must register on the day to participate and win prizes. Cost is $2.50 per child or $5 per family to enter. All children who register will receive a free sausage and drink.

Registration starts at 9.30 am with fishing starting at 10.00 am and finishing at 2.30 followed by presentations. Note that prize winners must be present to be eligible to win prizes

No fishing licence is required to participate in the Churchill Community Fishing & Fun Day. It is a day for children with their Mums and Dads to come along to fish, hopefully catch a big fish or come along to learn how to fish or maybe just learn about fishing and the environment. The local Fishing Club and Fishing Victoria Officers and Fishcare Victoria will be in attendance to assist, talk about fishing and licensing, the fishing environment and fishing in general.

There will be plenty of other activities on the day, there will be a jumping castle for the little children, face painting, music as well as hot and cold food and drinks.

There are lots of great prizes to be won by children in different age groups for hooking the first fish, the biggest or smallest fish, there are lucky door prizes plus many, many more.

Lake Hyland has recently been restocked by Fisheries Victoria with 800 large rainbow trout, which are a good target for children and novice fishers to catch.

There will be something for everyone to enjoy on Saturday December 10.
