Yinnar Football and Netball success

For the senior football team it was their first win since 2015. They were at the bottom of the ladder and thought they did not have much hope. However, in the last round they won to make it into the Finals. From there they won each game to triumph in the Grand Final.

They had a good mix of experienced players from Jamie Winters the oldest to young ones at eighteen years.

Daniel Taylor was their coach who joined them in the 2021 season. He has a relaxed style along with good coaching which proved successful.

Ned Marsh played extremely well and gained Best on Ground in the Grand Final, best player of the finals and Yinnar Best and Fairest

Nathan Rowley, Captain for the last two years kicked the sealer for the win. Harry McColl, an Under 18 player was eligible to play with the Seniors. He played a really good game and was named second best on ground.

The game was played against Newborough at Morwell East ground, and they put up a good fight. At three quarter time there was only a point in it. Yinnar clinched the game in the final quarter.

A big thank you goes to all the volunteers, in particular Di Penny and her son Nick for being the trainers, Matt Bugeja for being Senior Manager, all the committee, volunteers and supporters.

Yn U15 Team

Presidents James Mills and Dean Saures would like to send out a big thank you to all the families, players and volunteers in all the age groups playing in football and netball, who make the club run from week to week. Your assistance is essential for the club to function.

The Under 15 netballers won in a very close game with Boolarra. The conditions were tough with rain and wind to contend with but they played well and stuck with it as a ‘team first’ attitude. They were coached well by netball stalwart Jenny Mills. Best on court was Clare Thorburn.

All the girls, with their parents, joined the Saturday night celebrations.

A great celebration was held on the Saturday night at the club. Sunday they held their vote count and Monday was their Mad Monday which finished off a successful season for the Yinnar Football Netball Club.
